Results of the 2023 TCS London Marathon Ballot to be announced on Monday 24 October
More than 410,000 people who entered the ballot to participate in the 2023 TCS London Marathon will discover their result on Monday 24 October.
Those who have been successful will be able to start planning to take on the iconic TCS London Marathon course, from Greenwich to Westminster, on Sunday 23 April 2023.
For those who do not get a place via the ballot, all is not lost as there are still ways to take part in the 2023 event, including the following:
- Charity entry
- Many charities still have places available in this year’s event, including the 2023 TCS London Marathon Charity of the Year, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. Charities allocate their places to people who commit to raising funds for their cause. To find out more, click here.
- The virtual 2023 TCS London Marathon
- Unsuccessful ballot applicants can enter the virtual 2023 TCS London Marathon, which gives participants the chance to take part on a course of their choice, anywhere in the world. Participants have 24 hours to complete the 26.2 miles, between 00:00 and 23:59:59 BST on Sunday 23 April, and all finishers receive the same official finisher’s medal and New Balance T-shirt as participants in the mass event. All successful ballot applicants are encouraged to sign up to the 2023 TCS London Marathon Meet Our Experts event, which will be held on Saturday 4 February at The Royal Institution, 21 Albemarle Street, London, W1S 4BS. It’s the ideal opportunity to find out all the information and advice needed for training and beyond. For more information, click here.
Hugh Brasher, Event Director of the TCS London Marathon, said: “The 2022 TCS London Marathon was a wonderful day full of positivity and joy as more than 40,000 people took part in the mass event. Our focus on inclusivity shone throughout the day, particularly at Rainbow Row where we saw the colour and vibrancy of the LGBTQIA+ community out in force, and our first-ever assisted wheelchair participants cross the Finish Line.
“There will be thousands of people celebrating securing a ballot place in the 2023 TCS London Marathon and looking forward to being part of another incredible day on Sunday 23 April. We know there will be disappointment too but an unsuccessful ballot result does not have to be the end of the road.
“There are many great charities looking for people to take on next year’s TCS London Marathon and to help raise crucial funds. The virtual TCS London Marathon is back and I encourage all those who have received an unsuccessful notification to sign up to the virtual and do the TCS London Marathon their way next April.”
The TCS London Marathon ballot draw is completely random, just like the National Lottery.
Successful applicants will be able to set up their own bespoke fundraising page through Enthuse, the official fundraising partner of London Marathon Events.
